The nationwide outrage following the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and other African-Americans in recent months has spurred a beloved three-time Olympic bobsledding medalist from Douglasville to share her own story in an effort to create “lasting change.”

A couple of former Chapel Hill High football players were recently named to the Georgia Sports Writers Association Class AAAA All-State teams that were released on Friday morning.

This season’s All-Douglas County Sentinel boys basketball team was heavy on guards while the girls team leaned more towards forwards.

With the school year hanging in the balance of Gov. Brian Kemp, the Georgia High School Association will meet next week to discuss how it should proceed with the spring sports season.

Six players from the county were named to the Georgia Athletic Coaches Associations all-state teams, which were released earlier this week.
