Peterson wins Big 12 defensive award

Former Chapel Hill High standout Brandi Peterson was named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. The sophomore defender has been a key player in helping Texas Christian University (TCU) repeat as conference champions. Throughout the regular season, Peterson has been named the conference’s defensive player of the week five times in helping TCU set a school record with 11 shutouts. Offensively, she has contributed two goals, including one game-winner, and five assists for nine points. TCU will play Texas on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. for the conference title. The match will be televised by ESPNU.
